Teide & Central Tenerife
Fasnia Volcano Historic Eruption Area
A historic eruption area on Tenerife’s eastern highlands associated with the 1704–1705 volcanic sequence.
The Fasnia eruption area forms part of the historic volcanic sequence that affected Tenerife in 1704 and 1705. Vents opened along the island’s eastern highlands and produced lava flows that altered the landscape.
Together with nearby historic vents, the site helps show that Tenerife’s volcanic activity has repeatedly occurred along fissures away from the Teide summit itself.
Good to know
Historic vent areas are protected and may be remote. Use authorised roads and trails and do not cross closed volcanic terrain.
