About the museum
El Portillo Visitor Centre sits inside Teide National Park near one of its principal road entrances. The centre helps visitors read the surrounding lava fields, crater systems and specialised high-altitude plant communities.
Because it lies inside the park, the centre works well as a practical first stop for trail information, landscape interpretation and understanding how vegetation survives in Teide’s dry, cold and intensely sunny environment.
