Santa Cruz & La Laguna
Peraza y Ayala House
An 18th-century three-storey residence in La Laguna with a distinctive enclosed upper balcony and strong traditional street presence.
History & background
Peraza y Ayala House was built between 1761 and 1769 and forms part of La Laguna’s exceptional concentration of historic domestic architecture. Its three-storey height gives it an unusually strong presence in the old town streetscape.
The enclosed upper balcony is a particularly characteristic feature. The building shows how traditional timber elements could be adapted to a dense urban setting while maintaining privacy and ventilation.
