Santa Cruz & La Laguna
Mesa House (Casa Mesa)
An 18th-century noble house in La Laguna, later remodelled and associated with the Mesa family and the city’s long tradition of education.
History & background
Mesa House is one of the historic residences that help define the domestic architecture of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The house dates from the mid-18th century and preserves the scale and street presence of an urban elite residence in Tenerife’s former capital.
The building was remodelled in the early 20th century and later became linked with educational use. Its façade and family heraldry make it a useful stop when comparing La Laguna’s noble houses with the nearby convents, churches and civic buildings of the UNESCO-listed centre.
Visitor information
The building is best appreciated as part of a walking route through La Laguna’s historic centre. Check current access before planning an interior visit.
