Santa Cruz & La Laguna
Van der Heede House
A substantial 18th-century La Laguna residence linked to a wealthy family of Dutch origin and organised around a large traditional courtyard.
History & background
Van der Heede House reflects the international trading connections behind part of La Laguna’s prosperity. The family was of Dutch origin, and the present house was catalogued in the 18th century as a substantial urban residence.
Its large cloistered courtyard is characteristic of elite Canarian domestic architecture, where private rooms and service areas were organised around an internal open space rather than displayed directly to the street.
Visitor information
The property is not a conventional visitor attraction. Exterior viewing is straightforward, while interior access depends on current institutional use.
