Guargacho Archaeological Site

A protected archaeological site in southern Tenerife associated with Guanche ritual and settlement evidence.

HistoricCulture & Heritage

The Guargacho archaeological site is one of the best-known protected Guanche sites in southern Tenerife. Excavations and interpretation of the remains have contributed to debates about ritual practice, settlement and the organisation of indigenous life in the dry south.

Its importance is archaeological rather than monumental: the value comes from the evidence preserved in the ground and from what it reveals about pre-conquest communities.
