About this volcanic site

Roque de Jama is a striking volcanic formation on the boundary between the San Miguel de Abona and Arona landscapes. Its geological history is connected with the formation of the old Adeje massif.

The steep rock faces provide habitat for specialised cliff vegetation, while the formation itself is a powerful visual landmark above the southern settlements.
