Museo de Historia Casa del Capitán stands in the historic centre of San Miguel de Abona and occupies a traditional Canarian house associated with the Alfonso family. Its architecture reflects the lifestyle of a comparatively prosperous rural household.
The building includes an interior courtyard, semi-basement, wine cellar, wine press and granaries. After a serious fire in 1978, the house was restored by the municipality and adapted for museum use.
