Teide & Central Tenerife
Tabonal Negro Lava Field
A dark volcanic landscape in Teide National Park known for shiny black volcanic glass and rugged lava textures.
Volcano & TeideNature & Forests
Tabonal Negro is associated with some of the park’s darkest volcanic material, including obsidian-like glassy rock formed when silica-rich lava cooled rapidly.
The site shows how different lava chemistry and cooling conditions can produce textures very different from the rough basalt fields seen elsewhere on Tenerife.
