History & background

Saint Anne Church stands near the heart of Garachico and reflects the town’s long religious and mercantile history. Garachico was once Tenerife’s principal commercial port before the 1706 eruption radically altered the harbour.

The church forms part of the historic fabric that survived, was restored or was rebuilt as the town recovered from volcanic destruction and the loss of its former economic position.
