PlanningWhat to Pack for Tenerife: Beaches, Hiking & Teide
A practical Tenerife packing list for beach days, northern forests and Teide, with seasonal layers, hand-luggage tips and links to official advice.

Plan beach days, harbour walks and an easy south-coast stay around Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas, with official maps and transport advice.
Los Cristianos centres on a working harbour, a town beach and established streets. Playa de las Américas offers a resort setting with hotels, shopping, restaurants and seafront walks. They are neighbouring bases, but the best choice depends on your exact accommodation and plans.
Think about what you want to reach on foot, how you will arrive and whether your evenings will centre on restaurants, entertainment or a quieter hotel. Check the immediate surroundings of a property rather than assuming every street in a resort has the same atmosphere.
The town beach is an urban beach in Arona with easy pedestrian access and nearby places to eat and shop. It is a practical starting point for exploring the waterfront rather than a remote beach escape.
The harbour also serves inter-island travel. If you have a ferry or excursion booked, use the meeting point in the confirmation: a beach walk, ferry terminal and tour check-in are not interchangeable destinations. Allow time to find the correct entrance.
Las Vistas borders the promenade connecting the Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas areas. Arona lists showers, toilets, sunbed hire and an accessible area. Confirm current assistance arrangements locally if you need them.
Our suggestion is to combine one beach stop with a short out-and-back walk. Choose a turnaround point before everyone gets tired, and leave time for lunch. Do not treat the entire coastline as one uniform bathing beach; use the signs and flags at each individual spot.
Use the resort's seafront and shopping areas as the framework for an unhurried day. Pick one or two stops rather than combining every beach, shop and evening venue into a single schedule.
For a beach stop near the adjoining Costa Adeje side, Troya is one option shown in the official resort map. Check the beach page and local conditions before swimming. If you plan an evening out, decide how you will return to your accommodation before leaving.
For a change of scenery, plan a separate visit to Costa Adeje. La Pinta sits beside Puerto Colón, a useful landmark for the marina area. It is not the port of Los Cristianos: always check which harbour your activity actually uses.
The photo below shows La Pinta in neighbouring Costa Adeje, not a beach in Los Cristianos. Use our Costa Adeje guide to choose a manageable outing and arrange the return.
A water-park visit can be a separate day in a south-coast holiday. Check the official Siam Park visitor page for arrangements on your date and read the dedicated guide for planning.
Keep arrival and return logistics simple. Confirm any transfer in your booking and leave enough time for changing, collecting belongings and reaching the departure point. Do not assume that a park ticket includes transport.
Aena lists daytime bus route 40 between the airport, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje, and night route 711 serving the airport and southern resorts. Follow its links to TITSA for current stops, fares and timetables.
Before choosing a bus, check the walk from the stop to your accommodation, luggage needs and your arrival time. If your flight is delayed, revisit the transport plan rather than relying on a saved departure time.
Day one suggestion: get your bearings in Los Cristianos, choose either the town beach or Las Vistas, and finish with a meal near your accommodation. Leave time to settle in instead of scheduling a demanding excursion immediately after arrival.
Day two suggestion: explore Playa de las Américas at your own pace, or choose one separate outing such as Costa Adeje or Siam Park. If a boat trip is your priority, build the day around its confirmed departure point and check-in time.
Pack water, sun protection, comfortable shoes and a light layer. Adjust beach plans to the flags and weather. These are editorial suggestions; there is no single required route or fixed timetable.
