Cueva del Viento is a major volcanic cave system beneath the hills of Icod de los Vinos. The official cave centre dates its formation to roughly 27,000 years ago, when basaltic lava from an early eruptive phase of Pico Viejo created a complex network of underground tubes.

Around 18 kilometres have been mapped, making it the largest known volcanic tube in Europe and one of the longest in the world. Public access is controlled through guided visits that begin at the visitor centre and include both an outdoor approach and a limited section inside the cave.
