About the museum

The Cha Domitila centre in Arguayo preserves one of Tenerife’s most distinctive craft traditions: hand-built pottery made without a potter’s wheel. The museum occupies a traditional Canarian house organised around a central courtyard.

The centre explains how local potters prepare, shape and fire clay and places these techniques within a wider ethnographic context. The tradition is often described as a direct descendant of pre-Hispanic ceramic practice, making the museum particularly relevant to visitors interested in continuity between Guanche and later island craft.
